The Sherwood Forest Trust is a registered charity based in Robin Hood’s village of Edwinstowe. Our mission is to protect Sherwood Forest – its nature, landscape, heritage and legend. The Trust’s vision is to restore and conserve what is left of the area and seek opportunities to create new woodland, heathland and other natural habitats – forming a more fluid and exciting landscape than ever before.
We are the only charity entirely devoted to this famous heritage forest and are not part of any larger organisation or national charity. We work at a grassroots level, with local communities, groups and councils to ensure the survival of Sherwood Forest.
This year we are delighted to be celebrating our 25 year anniversary.
We’ve made great strides towards our vision, but still have a long way to go. This year we want to show you the real Sherwood Forest – setting aside the infamous myths and legends whilst still honouring its rich heritage.
We will be bringing you new insights and innovative content over the next 12 months that shows Sherwood Forest and the surrounding areas in all its brilliant glory.
